What Should Your Wedding Welcome Sign Say?

When you walk into a wedding, one of the first things you see is the welcome sign. It’s a timeless way to greet your guests, and it sets the tone for the celebration. It also makes for great home decor after your special day. But what should your welcome sign look like, and what should it say? This is a question I get asked all the time, and I love chatting through ideas with my couples and coming up with wording that feels just right.

Let’s dive into your options. Keep in mind this isn’t an exhaustive list, just some of my favorites that I’ve done over the years.

TAYLOR SWIFT INSPIRED WELCOME SIGN IDEAS

• Meet me at midnight (perfect for a New Year’s Eve wedding!)

If you don’t know, now you know, I’m a huge Swiftie. I’ve loved her forever and got my daughter obsessed with her too. I giggle with joy every time a bride tells me she’s a fellow Swiftie and we get to incorporate subtle, inspired-by wording into their signage. Peep this NYE wedding [link].

Do you need to include your names and wedding date on the sign? No. Honestly, the day is yours, so you do you. Most welcome signs do include the couple’s name and wedding date, but if you want a super minimal approach, leave it out. My only piece of advice is to make sure we’re not crowding the surface. If we’re using a huge standing mirror, sure, let’s add more words. But if it’s on a smaller piece of acrylic or mirror, let’s keep it minimal.

I’m also a big fan of using numbers for the date (07.04.19) instead of writing it out (July 4, 2019), but that’s just me. I’m here to guide you and give you ideas, but at the end of the day, it’s your wedding, and you have final say.
